Msheireb Downtown Doha recognises the cultural and historic value of the existing spaces in the Msheireb area, it is reinterpreting its old forms to create a contemporary city.

Souq Waqif is connected to Msheireb Downtown Doha through an underpass. It is distinguished by its traditional and old buildings. It served as the main destination for trading in the past. After renovation, today it is considered the main centre for a wide array of stores, cafes, and restaurants.

The Diwan Amiri quarter comprises the Diwan Annexe, the key civic and administration area, the Amiri Guard building and Qatar National Archive.

Mohammed Bin Jassem House is the house of the son of the modern Qatar founder. It is a heritage house with an internal courtyard. It is also one of the four heritage houses that comprise Msheireb Museums.

Msheireb Prayer Ground is one of the renovation projects in the Heritage Quarter. It is one of the most prominent cultural and religious landmarks in Msheireb Downtown Doha, which goes back to the early days of modern Qatar.

M7 is Qatar’s epicentre for innovation and entrepreneurship in design, fashion and tech. M7 works under the umbrella of Qatar Museums and aims to empower designers to explore, collaborate and develop successful businesses. By providing all the necessary tools and expertise to designers to take ideas from concept to market, M7 responds to the changing demands of Qatar’s growing fashion and design industries.

SOUQ WAQIF

Souq Waqif dates back to Doha’s earliest days when residents gathered in the centre of town to buy and sell goods. It is a shopping destination renowned for its traditional architecture, old world atmosphere, extensive choice of shops and excellent restaurants.

Al Koot Fort is one of the old military fortresses in Doha, which served to protect the souq. Its distinguishing feature is the open-air courtyard mosque enabling the guards of the time to keep an eye on praying prisoners.
