In line with the MoU with the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and in collaboration with AlHosh Gallery Msheireb Museums hosts creative community to create a framework for art workshop
Doha, Qatar, 10 November 2021: Msheireb Museums, the cultural and touristic destination at Msheireb Downtown Doha, organised the first preliminary session for the creative community in Qatar to develop the framework for a coming artistic workshop to be conducted at Bin Jelmood House.
The meeting was in line with the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking and Msheireb Museums to organize educational sessions and strengthen collaborative efforts to increase awareness on the global issue of modern-day slavery and human trafficking.
The meeting was held at Bin Jelmood House in Msheireb Museums in collaboration with Al Hosh Gallery and attended by creative community members who will take part in the art workshop to create artworks on slavery and human trafficking. The art pieces and installations will be displayed at a dedicated exhibition at Bin Jelmood House in December to mark the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery.
Mr Mohammed Ali Al-Mal, Assistant of the Assistant Secretary at The National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking said: “This meeting reflects the combined effort of various national entities supported by the National Committee for Combating Human Trafficking to shed light on the concern of human trafficking and to combat it. We will continue to work with partners to launch more artistic initiatives to achieve our common goals.”
Mr Abdallah Khaled Al Neama, Director of Public Programs at Msheireb Museums, stated: “We are pleased to host the first introductory meeting with the artists in Qatar ahead of the first art workshop to be held at Bin Jelmood house. It will help us raise awareness about the importance of combating human trafficking and slavery through arts. We are confident that our integrated effort will deliver a positive impact on our community and generations. Msheireb Museums plays an important role in raising awareness and securing a space for artists to showcase their creative works and express their thoughts on important topics”.
Representing Al Hosh Gallery, Mr Ghanem Al Ghanem said: “We are proud to collaborate with the National Committee for Combating Human trafficking and Msheireb Museums to organize a series of events and initiatives that help us shed the lights on important social causes. Art has an important role to change perceptions and talking about people’s interests. We are looking to organize a fruitful exhibition”.
The workshop and exhibition reflect the common effort of the National Committee for Combatting Human Trafficking and Msheireb Museums to tackle the common challenges of human trafficking and raise awareness about this important issue.
