  • Chaumet & Nature Exhibition

    Chaumet & Nature Exhibition

Chaumet & Nature exhibition presents a unique sensory journey celebrating the wonders of nature, between earth and sky, between sky and sea, all through which the true essence of Chaumet is revealed.

From 1780 to the present day, the Maison has placed its creativity and savoir-faire at the service of nature, transposing its preciousness into jewellery. Over the course of successive eras, it has looked to the masterpieces of the earth’s flora and fauna, capturing the immensity of the sky, its stars and birds, and interpreting the infinite nuances of the sea and the treasures, to create jewels imbued with emotion and symbolism.

Organized by Maison Chaumet in collaboration with Qatar Museums, M7 and Qatar Creates, Chaumet & Nature exhibition spotlights more than 100 exquisite jewels from the French Maison’s collections as well as those of Qatar Museums, honouring the link both countries have shared since 1970s.

Chaumet & Nature marks the first high jewellery exhibition of its kind ever held in Qatar.

    About Maison Chaumet

In the heart of Place Vendôme in Paris, Chaumet crafts jewellery that melds audacity and elegance. Combining tradition and modernity, the artisans of Chaumet’s High Jewellery workshop pass on their exceptional know-how to create masterpieces of lightness and movement, including the Maison’s famed tiaras. Chaumet’s emblematic collections are inspired by the multi-faceted personality of Empress Joséphine, the Maison’s first prestigious client, who designated Chaumet as her official jewellery. Since the founding of the Maison in 1780, Chaumet’s timeless style has continually evolved with the times and influences of the world for more than 240 years.

The first jeweller to set up shop on Place Vendôme in 1812, Chaumet has made this mythic nexus of Parisian jewellery its beating heart. Chaumet celebrated its 240th anniversary in 2020 with the inauguration of its magnificently renovated address at number 12. Bridging past and present, 12 Vendôme embodies the soul of Chaumet through exceptional spaces: the boutique welcoming clients, the historic grand salons and the High Jewellery workshop, where dreams come alive….

  • Ellsworth Kelly at 100 Exhibition

    Ellsworth Kelly at 100 Exhibition

This is the American artist’s first-ever retrospective in the Middle East.

Organised by Glenstone Museum in Maryland, US, the Doha presentation on view at M7 includes more than 70 works that span the entirety of Ellsworth Kelly’s career, ranging from his early days as a burgeoning artist in post-war Paris, through his final years as an icon of Modern art.

The comprehensive presentation — which includes rarely seen works — charts the artist’s lifelong exploration of the relationship between form, colour, line, and space. Among the highlights are early foundational works such as Painting for a White Wall (1952) and Painting in Three Panels (1956) in which Kelly pares painting down to its simplest form and engages the surrounding architecture. Also included is Yellow Curve (1990), his first floor-based painting, which exemplifies the artist’s preoccupation with blurring the distinction between painting, sculpture and installation.

Ellsworth Kelly at 100 also features work from the seminal Chatham Series (1971), drawings and works on paper from the late 1940s to the early 2000s, and a selection of the artist’s lesser-known photographs (1950-1982).

The exhibition celebrates what would have been Kelly’s 100th birthday (in 2023) and introduces the MENASA region to the artist’s work, which has profoundly influenced modern and contemporary art, design and aesthetics.
