H.H. Sheikha Moza bint Nasser
Chairperson of the Board of Directors
Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser plays a key role in supporting the country’s National Vision – a far-reaching agenda to transform Qatar into a thriving, knowledge-based society by 2030. For more than 15 years, Sheikha Moza has been a driving force behind education and social reforms in her country. Sheikha Moza is also active on the international stage, spearheading projects to promote peace and human development throughout the world.
Domestically, she serves as Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), a private non-profit organization founded in 1995. Its flagship project is Education City, which covers over 14 million square meters and houses branch campuses of renowned international universities and institutions. QF is also engaged in numerous scientific research and economic and social development projects. In addition to her work at Qatar Foundation, Sheikha Moza served as the Vice Chair of the Supreme Council of Health from 2009-2014 and as the Vice Chair of the Supreme Education Council from 2006-2012. In these roles, she has helped enact major top-down reforms of Qatar’s public schools and healthcare system. More recently, she chairs the Sidra Medical and Research Centre, a new training and research hospital that is envisaged to become a leading institution for women and children’s specialty care.
On a regional and international level, Sheikha Moza has launched multiple projects including the International Fund for Higher Education in Iraq, the Silatech initiative to address the growing challenge of youth employment in the Middle East and North Africa, and Education Above All (EAA), a global initiative that aims to bring new life chances and real hope and opportunities to poor and marginalised children, youth and women in the developing world. EAA is carrying out its objectives through a number of existing programmes such as Educate a Child (EAC), Protecting Education in Insecurity and Conflict (PEIC) and Al-Fakhoora.
Sheikha Moza plays an active role with the United Nations (UN) to support global education. In 2003, she was appointed as UNESCO’s Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education; in 2008 she was appointed by the Secretary General of the UN as Alliance of Civilizations (AOC) Ambassador; and in 2010 she became a member of the UN Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Group with a special emphasis on Goal 2 – universal primary education. In 2012 she was appointed as a Steering Committee Member of the UN Secretary-General’s Global Education First Initiative.
Among Sheikha Moza’s many honors are the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy and the George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service in 2013. In June 2009, she was inducted into the Academie des Beaux Arts de l’Institut de France (Academy of Fine Arts of the Institute of France), the prestigious French society that generates awareness of the arts through education and helps develop artistic relationships on an international level. In 2007, Sheikha Moza was presented the prestigious Chatham House Award for her contributions to improving international relations.
Sheikha Moza graduated from Qatar University with a degree in sociology and has been awarded honorary doctorates from Virginia Commonwealth University, Texas A&M University, Carnegie Mellon University, Imperial College London and Georgetown University.
H.E. Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani
Vice-Chairperson - Board of Directors
H.E Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani is a member of the Board of Trustees for Qatar Foundation, Vice Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation Endowment Fund and the Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation Endowment Fund Executive Committee.
In addition, he is the Deputy Chairman of Qatar National Bank and sits on the Board of Investcorp, Bahrain. Between 2010 and 2015 he was a member of the Supervisory Board of Porsche SE in Stuttgart, Germany.
From 2010 to 2013 H.E. Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani served as the Minister of Business and Trade for the State of Qatar. During his term of office, he was a member of the Board of Qatar Investment Authority and of Qatar Financial Centre Authority, as well as a member of the Supreme Council for Economic and Investment Affairs.
In addition, he held the positions of Vice Chairperson at the Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology and of Chairperson at Enterprise Qatar (in charge of medium and small businesses) and acted as the Chairperson at Qatar’s National Broadband Network and Qatar’s Committee for Economic Zones.
Prior to that, he worked at RasGas Company Ltd and Commercial and Shipping Group from 2003-2010.
H.E. Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani holds a Masters in International Affairs, Urban Politics and International Security Policy from Columbia University, School of International and Public Affairs, New York, USA and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Suffolk University, Boston, USA.
H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Kubaisi
Member of the Board of Directors
H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Kubaisi’s earlier assignments included Principal Advisor to Qatar Foundation, leading the conceptual development of Qatar Science and Technology Park as its Chairman until 2007, and serving as the Dean of the College of Science at Qatar University. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Qatar Foundation and Ooredoo. H.E. Dr. Al Kubaisi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biology from Qatar University and Masters of Science in Chemistry from A&T State University in North Carolina in 1983. He earned his Doctorate in Chemistry from the University of London in 1988.
Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi
Member of the Board of Directors
Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi holds the role of Vice President of Capital Projects and Facilities of Qatar Foundation (QF) for Education, Science and Community Development. The Capital Projects and Facilities Division oversees the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the Education City campus.
Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi also oversees the development of various other multimillion dollar Education City projects including Qatar Science and Technology Park, the new Convention Centre, and Sidra Medical and Research Center.
With over 14 years of distinguished service, Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi has served in a series of leadership and managerial positions in Qatar Foundation.
Prior to his work at QF, Eng. Saad Al Muhannadi also led several managerial positions at the Qatar Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture. As Head of the Design Development section, he developed guidelines and regulations for urban development throughout Qatar. Prior to this role, he worked as Assistant Head and Head of the West Bay Planning Unit, overseeing all planning activities for the West Bay area.
Eng. Saad Al Muhanadi holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Miami (US).
H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi
Member of the Board of Directors
H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi holds the position of Secretary General of Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, the organization responsible for coordinating amongst government agencies within the state to ensure infrastructure and development projects are in readiness for the event in 2022.
A graduate in Law from Sheffield University, H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi is also General Counsel at Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Holding. Prior to joining Qatar Investment Authority, H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi worked for Qatar Petroleum. Hassan also holds a board position with Hassan Food Company, Qatar’s premium worldwide investor/developer in the agriculture and livestock sector.
Mr. Rashid Nasser Al Kaabi
Member of the Board of Directors
Rashid Nasser Al Kaabi is a member of the board of Directors of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry(QCCI); Chairman of the industry committee at QCCI; and Head of the Qatari side in the Qatari-Lebanese Business Council, in addition to his roles at Sraiya Holding Group.
Rashid Nasser Al Kaabi graduated from the faculty of law; and is one of the most influential and successful Qatari businessmen who achieved a good reputation for himself both locally and internationally.
Mr. Tamim Al Kuwari
Member of the Board of Directors
Tamim Al Kuwari is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Qinvest. Before joining Qinvest, Tamim Al Kuwari was Managing Director at Goldman Sachs and Country Head of Qatar and prior to this role, he was the Chief Financial Officer for Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat). At Nakilat, his main responsibility was to implement an $8 million program to finance 27 liquefied natural gas vessels that ship LNG from Ras Laffan to end users worldwide. Tamim Al Kuwari holds a BA in International Business with a minor in Political Science from George Washington University, and an MBA from the American University in Washington DC.
Mr. Wissam Al Mana
Member of the Board of Directors
Wissam Al Mana is the Board member and Managing Director of S.H. Al Mana Group of Companies; one of the most diversified groups in the Middle East, operating in 8 countries. The group’s activities include automotive distribution and services, real estate and investments, retail, food & beverage, engineering, technology, media and entertainment. Operating over 300 outlets, Al Mana represents some of the largest and most successful brands in the world, covering most areas of retail including luxury goods, beauty, fashion, home interiors, watches and jewellery.
Wissam Al Mana graduated from George Washington University in Washington DC.
Mr. Ali Al Kuwari
Acting Chief Executive Officer
Ali brings eighteen years of experience with him, specialising in the fields of cost and planning engineering, and project management. He has successfully implemented many projects within Qatar, including the construction of the Ras Laffan Cracker, LPG Tanks at Mesaieed, field support workshop warehouses, the QNCC plant’s new fuel gas supply pipeline in Dukhan, the Family Affairs HQ in Doha, and the University of Qatar’s multipurpose hall, to name a few.
Before Joining Msheireb Properties, Ali previously held positions in Technip in Paris and spent fifteen years rising through the ranks at Qatar Petroleum where he eventually became the Acting Lead Cost/Planning Engineer.
At Msheireb Properties, Mr. Al Kuwari is responsible for developing and implementing strategic and operational plans for the Design and Delivery directorate. He ensures that the projects are devised and delivered within the agreed timeline, budgets, and quality measures as per Msheireb Properties’ stakeholders’ expectations.
Ali is further charged with a wide purview, namely directing the development and overseeing the implementation of policies, systems, procedures and controls to meet the objectivity, efficiency and effectiveness of operations. He further manages the Lead Design and Delivery directorate to ensure the achievement of objectives, while maintaining sustainability across the directorate’s functions, projects and resources.
Ali has consistently demonstrated a commitment to lifelong learning and upgrading his skills to keep pace with international innovations in engineering. Subsequently, he excelled in training courses and programs such as project, leadership and management, effective planning and scheduling, Primavera project manager, contracts reading, writing and negotiation and contracts management.
Ali holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Miami and an Executive MBA from HEC Paris in Qatar.
Mr. Peter Bisley
Chief Officer - Development and Asset Management
With over 20 years’ experience in development and asset management in the Middle East and the Europe, Peter Bisley is the Chief Officer of Development and Asset Management at Msheireb Properties, Qatar.
Peter is responsible for evolving Msheireb Properties’ development and portfolio strategy. He also manages the operating plans and budgets for current and future developments, such as the flagship project, Msheireb Downtown Doha.
Prior to his role with Msheireb Properties. Peter was an Executive Development Director, leading the development of a UAE offshore development and investment management company. He has also led the development team of a sovereign wealth fund, focused on large scale mixed use projects and strategic investments in landmark schemes in Europe and the MENA region.
Mr. David Charles Inches
Chief Officer – Commercial
David Charles Inches is the Chief Officer – Commercial of Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation and the developer of Msheireb Downtown Doha, the world’s first sustainable urban regeneration project.
He brings to Msheireb Properties a wealth of experience, having managed large, multi-site, mixed use developments and leading property and retail companies in both regional and international markets.
David was previously the head of commercial and mixed use property management at Aldar, in Abu Dhabi, where he managed five project openings, developed property management business plans and tested a new development control process, while collaborating with architects on all operational strategies.
In Saudi Arabia, David was the General Manager of Al Faisaliah Mall and Office Complex in Riyadh where he was responsible for project management, facility management, leasing and marketing functions. Prior to relocating to the Gulf, David worked with some of the biggest names in real estate and retail in the UK, including FDP Savills, BAA McArthur Glen, Makro and British Home Stores.
Mr. Mohamed Hussain Darwish
Acting Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Mohamed Hussain Darwish is the Acting Chief Financial Officer of Msheireb Properties and brings a wealth experience of more than 15 years. Prior to joining the company in 2009, Darwish held roles at other prominent Qatari organisations, including Qatar Petroleum and Qatar National Bank.
As Acting Chief Financial Officer, Darwish is responsible to develop the overall corporate financial strategy and projects funding strategy to ensure its successful and productive implementation. He assists in setting up long term financial planning in coordination with Strategic Planning, as well as ensure financial controls, systems and procedures are effectively established.
Darwish has an EMBA from Plymouth University UK in Business Administration, recognised worldwide as the premier postgraduate qualification in the field of business management.
Ms. Maryam Al Mansoori
Chief Officer - Corporate Planning & Support
Maryam is the Chief Officer- Corporate Planning & Support at Msheireb Properties which she has joined as one of the establishment team. She led key strategic projects such as the organization restructuring, business process improvements and design of new corporate governance framework as example among many other projects. She had held several senior management positions during her tenure at Msheireb Properties, where she has continually delivered expert leadership and excellent professionalism. Her portfolio with Msheireb Properties covers leading the Corporate Planning, Quality and Excellence, Risk Management, Health and Safety, Human Resources and Information Technology.
Being a highly experienced professional in different business areas and human resources in specific, with over twelve years of expertise she was selected to join Sidra Medical and Research Center which is under establishment on secondment terms as Chief Human Resources Officer. She was responsible for the strategic human resource planning and execution to achieve optimum performance from the highest caliber of talent. She took a strong lead in strategic matters and directs the management of all non-physician talent-related functions for Sidra. The main assignment for her was to turn around the Human Resources Branch to play more strategic role while delivering operation excellence.
Prior to working with Msheireb Properties, she was Acting Deputy Manager of Human Resources at RasGas Company Limited where she has developed her professional skills over seven years. Promoted at RasGas five times, proving record of delivering superb performance and hands on experience working at Information Technology, Corporate Planning and Human Resources.
Maryam holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, with a major in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is certified in Corporate Governance from INSEAD Business School. Maryam completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Qatar University and attained Professional Qualifications in IT being a Certified Cisco Network Associate. In addition, Maryam is professionally qualified Human Resources and had held PHR Certification from the Society of Human Resource Management. She had graduated from Qatar Leadership Center (QLC) Executives Leaders program. She is in positions of responsibility as Board Member of Qatar University Alumni Association. She had volunteering activities with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Permanent Committee for Organizing Conferences and one of her roles was PR Team Leader and Protocols Representative.
Mr. Gamal Eldin Ali Eltom
General Counsel – Legal
Gamal eldin Ali Eltom serves as the Legal Affairs Counsel for Msheireb Properties, continuing an impressive career as a Legal Counsel for companies spanning Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia and Qatar, which helped him specialise in region-specific legal issues in Construction Law and Real Estate.
Most recently, Gamal worked in Qatar Petroleum Legal Department as Senior Counsel, where his duties include providing legal advice on Qatari Law, specialise in Real estate contracts, construction and building contracts, employment contracts and review and drafting legal documents. Gamal represented Qatar Petroleum at the Qatari Civil and Criminal Courts, and at Local and Foreign Arbitration Tribunals.
Prior to his three years at Qatar Petroleum, Gamal served as Legal Advisor for the Arab Engineering Bureau in Doha. He advised on the firm’s external engineering activities and transactions, and internally, on Qatar’s labour laws, office Regulation and International Labour Organisation treaties.
Gamal’s wide-range of experience comprises working with the Cairo Institute for Human Rights, Sudan Future Care and the Sudanese Legal Aid and Consultancy Center. He is a member of the Charter Institute of Arbitrators in London, a member of the World Jurists Association and an honoured member of the ‘WHO’s WHO Historical Society’ for 2008, a member of Sudanese Lawyers Association in Doha.
Gamal received his LLB from the University of Khartoum in Sudan, earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Arbitration and an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration, from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom.
