Corporate Social Responsibility

Msheireb Properties is a dedicated partner of local communities. As such, we support corporate social responsibility campaigns in a variety of areas, from training to research to arts and culture. In May 2011 we announced a landmark agreement with Harvard University Graduate School of Design to research sustainable urban development in the Gulf.

Our collaboration will see the publication of a Gulf Encyclopaedia for Sustainable Urbanism and, ultimately, the establishment of a permanent research facility in Qatar.

Another educational partnership is our sponsorship of an initiative by Qatar University’s Materials Technology Unit to encourage science teaching in local high schools. The initiative involves a four-day course where local school students join the college’s specialist research teams to carry out fun experiments and classroom exercises.

Our involvement with schools also champions our core value of leadership around sustainability. The Green Programme for Schools initiative is the first programme of its type in Qatar, which promotes awareness of environmental issues and the importance of recycling and conservation. In partnership with Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, we are helping the programme reach 30 local schools.

Our CSR work extends throughout the local community. Msheireb Properties was proud to launch an original scheme earlier this year which provides free IT training to construction workers employed in the redevelopment of downtown Doha.

Our efforts in corporate social responsibility will continue to evolve as part of our commitment to local communities and our determination to help realise the Qatar National Vision 2030.
